With formal training in communications and media production, Gord started his career with Shaw Communications working for some well-known brands such as Country Music Television (CMT) and MTV. He then transitioned into cable operations and sales in the early 2000’s. He spent time in numerous Shaw regional offices across British Columbia in a range of leadership roles. Leading teams up to 1,000+ employees, he was involved in all aspects of Shaw’s regional operations including sales, marketing, installations, service, and call-centre customer support.
In 2014, Gord transitioned to Archipelago in a leadership role focused on Electronic Monitoring within global fisheries. Over the next 5 years, Gord’s responsibilities increased at Archipelago, and he was promoted to the President and CEO position in 2019. In 2020, he and two partners participated in a management buy-out to acquire Archipelago from its founders after more than 40 years of operations.
Today, Gord works closely with NGOs, fisheries regulators, industry members, and Archipelago’s business partners on all aspects of the business. He is responsible for Archipelago’s domestic and international operations which includes 100+ team members across offices in all British Columbia’s primary fishing ports, Alaska, Oregon, Norway, and Australia.
